Lowering of excise and customs taxes will contribute to the increase of import of new and used vehicles in FYRMacedonia, said Customs Administration (CA) director Vanco Kargov.

Lowering of excise and customs taxes will contribute to the increase of import of new and used vehicles in FYRMacedonia, said Customs Administration (CA) director Vanco Kargov.

"According to our information, there are about 1,100 used vehicles waiting for customs duties at storehouses throughout Macedonia", said Kargov after Tuesday's opening of the new MATRA project for technical assistance between the Dutch and Macedonian customs.

He stressed approximately 12,000 new vehicles were cleared through customs in 2009.

"The taxes' reduction will increase the import of used and new vehicles in FYRMacedonia, since costs are to decrease", added Kargov.
