Rescue teams continued the search for three more persons thought to be trapped under the avalanche which hit the houses in the village of Restelica in the municipality of Dragas in Kosovo-Metohija.

Seven members of the Reka family were killed in the avalanche which swept over some ten houses in the village on Saturday, but rescue teams found one five-year-old girl alive.

The search for individuals gone missing in the incident was interrupted late on Saturday. Rescue teams comprise citizens of Restelica and other villages, as well as over 150 members of the Kosovo security forces, police and fire brigade.

The police specified that the avalanche engulfed between 10 and 15 local houses, of which only two were inhabited and were home to 11 people.

The avalanche that swept over houses is some ten metres high and its scope totals around 500 metres.
